“These Are My Words” is a creative writing and letterpress printing workshop bringing together the combined talents of Francesca Kay – Poet, Printer and Word Artist and Sarah Wood Lane – Designer and Letterpress Printer of Berrington Press. It is the first in what will be a series of collaborative poetry and print workshops.
Working with poet Francesca, you will explore and find words that have meaning for you. They may be inspiring, thoughtful, poignant or funny, but uniquely yours.
Using your chosen word or words, you will then work with designer and printer Sarah to give your words expression, beauty and a life of their own. Under her guidance you will have the opportunity to employ traditional letterpress skills to create your own unique printed postcards to take home.
Francesca Kay celebrates words, ideas, and the joy of creating and sharing them. In her poetry life, she has extensive experience with workshops and readings for children and adults. She publishes her own poetry in various hand crafted forms; in seed packets, 3-d tunnels, matchboxes, postcards and on pictures. As an artist, Francesca makes word art, using letterpress and collage. She presents words and ideas as prints and 3-d objects. She regularly shows her work at exhibitions and fairs.
Sarah runs family printing firm Berrington Press and completed a craft apprenticeship under the tutelage of her father, David Wood in letterpress print methods. She is also the creator of the Berrington Press stationery brand, Osity.
We are located in the beautiful Golden Valley in Herefordshire and a stone’s throw from book town Hay-on-Wye. There are many places to stay in this enchanted area.
